Hardware Services
Our principle staff has been involved in micro computer hardware
and networking from the days of the original IBM PC. Many changes
have taken place since it's inception into the marketplace,
but the common denominator is the same as then. That is the
Customers evaluation of Value Added by utilizing lower cost
computing units.
Although the above points are Universally accepted, there
are however some caveats concerning the finished product (complete
PC) that should be addressed in order to allow the customer
to make an educated purchase decision.
Over the years since the original IBM PC, builders have sought
more efficient methods for computer production in order to
maximize profit. This business evolution has led to computers
that are largely 'component integrated '. By designing a single
component which integrates the CPU, Memory, Video, Network,
Cache, etc, companies have been able to use economies of scale
to manufacture ultra inexpensive computers.
Most of this type of unit is priced perfectly for the home
market, and can be considered a 'throw away' at the end of
it's useful life (usually 2 years). This can make sense for
the home user, However this type of unit generally causes more
grief then benefit for the business environment. Consider that
any breakdown in the function of an integrated component will
necessistate the replacement of the entire mainboard. Furthermore
most of these manufacturors produce thousands of these units
for sale, but will 're-tool' their production soon thereafter
for the next technolgies production. This means that a replacement
for your defective unit will be imposible to find.
Additionally these machines usually come bundled with software
that is acceptable for home use, but is rarely able to be used
by your business.
Our experience with these 'cookie-cutter' PC's has been mixed,
some good, many bad. We leave the final decision to the customer.
Servers
Where it concerns Server quality computers we recommend our
'In-House' units.
Our Servers can have 3 times the life span of a commercially
purchased product. Because we use individual components for
the machines they are easilly upgraded years into their life.
For instance, a commercially purchased server may be too weak
to host 'state of the art' databases 4 years after purchase.
Upgrade parts for these units may be unavailable or too expensive
due to low supply.
With our servers, we can upgrade you to 'state of the art'
Industry Standard Components, at a fraction of the cost for
a new server, in order utilize newer software.
For instance an upgrade of Memory and Hard Drive technology
after 4 years usually results in a tremendous return on investment
for the customer.
